I would like to extend a warm welcome to our school community. As a community focussed school, we are passionate about building strong and positive relationships with students, families and community members. Through our signature practices, your child will learn to be a safe and respectful learner as they navigate their primary years in our calm and supportive school environment. We pride ourselves on our team of exceptional teachers, teacher aides and specialist staff, supported by a dedicated P&C, who provide opportunities for all students to succeed. Our recently established Community Hub is a gateway for families to connect with each other, the school and with existing community services. You will find our school community is welcoming and we encourage you to become active members.
We hold high expectations in our classrooms, playgrounds and in the wider community and believe that community collaboration is the key to success.
This year, we have four school improvement priority areas. Each day, we work as a school community to develop and improve:
1. Behaviour and to promote high expectations of a safe, supportive and disciplined learning environment;
2. Staff capabilities in using purposeful data to inform school-based decisions, interventions and initiatives;
3. A culture of inclusion that focuses on all students as capable learners; and
4. Strong, innovative and sustainable partnerships with parents/carers, new families and the wider community.
Our aim is that all learners arrive at school eager to learn, feel they belong and have people who believe in them. Our staff model what it is to be a life-long learner through participation in professional development opportunities focussed on trauma aware practices, behaviour management, data analysis, the Australian Curriculum, differentiation and adjustments and student well-being.
A large number of our families have a long association with Zillmere and we continue to welcome new members to our community. We value the role that parents, carers and grandparents play in the education of their children and I look forward to working in partnership with you. I encourage you to have a voice in supporting and enhancing learning at our school by joining our P&C, First Nations Reference Group or our Pacifika Parents and Carers Group and contributing your energy and ideas.
We are many nations, one school!
